Meet Doug Hoffman
“If you’re old enough to climb into this truck, you’re old enough to work,” Doug Hoffman remembers his dad telling him. At age 9, Doug was eager to help get tools or power cords out of the truck, flush a toilet, turn the water on or off, and just hang around while his dad went about his day as a Roto-Rooter franchise owner in Petoskey, Michigan.
Doug’s grandfather first got the family involved in the Roto-Rooter business in 1948. Doug took ownership in 2000. He credits his family for helping him succeed in the business, which keeps busy servicing drains and older township sewer systems. He serves two counties with a single truck. “I’m not the biggest, but probably the happiest,” he says. Doug enjoys the freedom his Roto-Rooter business gives him to balance his life between good hard work and family fun with sports, camping, and kids’ activities.
